There has been some movement after a meeting with the Environment Agency.
Movement on the Temple Bridge at last!
Emma Reynolds, local MP for Wycombe and Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, has met with the EA to raise local concerns about the lack of progress, including serious impacts on disruption to the Thames Path, loss of leisure and business and safety of the 4 mile diversion route.
EA admitted it has taken too long and say they are now focussed on reopening the bridge, with next steps promised 1) central section to be removed 29 Sept – 6 Oct 2) subsequent decision on refurbishment v replacement 3) proposal by March 2026 for reopening and 4) £500k secured to develop designs.
They also pledged to 1) explore options to shorten diversion 2) investigate working with Bisham NSC to use their land for temporary diversion and 3) improve communication via signage, QR codes and setting up a dedicated webpage.
Let’s hope that this means something will happen fairly soon.
