The Marlow Society is delighted to announce that Naomi Riches MBE has been appointed as its new President. Naomi takes the reins from Sir Keith Stuart, who held the post with distinction, for the past 19 years.
Naomi has lived in Marlow since 2008, and in her own words ‘Marlow is stuck with me now, I don’t intend to leave this town’. She is an inspirational speaker, facilitator and resilience coach, with a compelling story that tells how she overcame all the odds to be the very best in her field. During her Paralympic rowing career she won a Gold at London 2012, which gave Marlow it’s golden post box; she also won a bronze at the Beijing Games in 2008 and has six World titles to her name.
An entry in the Guinness Book of Records reflects that in 2016 she set, and still holds, the record for rowing the entire length of the navigable Thames – six seconds under 48 hours!
Naomi was appointed Member of the British Empire in the 2013 New Years honours list, and in 2023 became one of Buckinghamshire’s Deputy Lieutenants, supporting His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, the Countess Howe.
