You may now have heard that the Marlow Film Studio has been given the go ahead by the Secretary of State. This awful decision flies in the face of a number of consultations.
The first, the vote by Marlow Society members a few years ago. This determined the position of the Society towards the planning application. Over 80% of you were against the development.
This was further borne out by the Parish Poll – a similar percentage against. The people of Marlow have spoken.
The recent rejection of the Film Studio at Holyport (again called in by Whitehall) stated that it was:
a) on Greenbelt land and
b) was unviable, as there was sufficient capacity in the Film industry – the studio was not needed. Further evidence for this point is the closure of the studios at Winnersh and Booker.
So, what is different with Marlow Film Studios? Surely no “Very Special Circumstances” exist to make a difference with the application at Holyport?
We can only hope that if a Judicial Review is allowed it will see through the specious promises of thousands of jobs and economic benefits to our town.
Be prepared for years of traffic lights and construction disturbance.
Your Executive is on the case!
