New Website
Take a look at the brand new Marlow Healthcheck website.

The Marlow Health Check project is now bearing the fruits of work in the 9 months to June 2006, to identify the economic, environmental and social strengths and weaknesses of Marlow and its surrounding countryside.

Visit the site here: www.marlowhealthcheck.org.uk

A market town healthcheck is a process which encourages local people to look at the strengths and weaknesses of their town and how they would like it to develop in the future.

The people of Marlow and its hinterland, which includes Great Marlow, Little Marlow, Medmenham and Bisham (the latter being in Berkshire and covered by Windsor and Maidenhead), have been asked to participate in this healthcheck, either by questionnaire/newspaper articles/website etc.

Local clubs, businesses, organisations and schools etc have also been encouraged to take part. This work has been undertaken by four separate work groups, Economy, Environment, Transport & Access and Social & Community. This Vision statement is a summary of their combined work.

Funding was provided by Wycombe District Council for a co-ordinator to organise the process. This appraisal of our town has sought to reach all areas of the community and the outcome is a clear expression and aspiration for the Town going forward. This Vision statement summarises the main issues that have been identified which we now present. Once ratified by the community, the next step will be to develop and publish the Action plan which will set out priorities that can be progressed.

ImageOver the coming years the number of people who use the town will be likely to increase, presenting new opportunities and challenges to our distinctive town. The Wycombe District Council local plan, which includes Marlow and its hinterland, shows few designated growth areas impacting upon Marlow. This is because it is surrounded by Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which add to the attractiveness of the Town.
