High Street Hold-ups - 1940s Style Print
During the course of the recent re-surfacing of the High Street the footings of anti-tank obstacles were revealed at both ends of the street.

These were probably installed in the summer of 1940 following the Dunkirk evacuation and the Fall of France, when a German invasion was expected, and possibly as part of the Thames-Kennet defence line.

Does anyone have pictures of what they looked like when they were in place? If so please contact us.
